OWL 1.9.0 focuses on:
Strengthening external collaboration setup, approvals, and access
Expanding social media and database workflows
Improving authentication, notifications, search, and general stability
This release also includes a wide range of UI and workflow regression fixes across the platform.
What’s New
External Collaboration
External collaboration has been implemented and refined so organizations can work with outside agencies and partners in a controlled way:
Add and manage external organizations and individual collaborators with pending/approved/declined states
Configure access level (read/write), expiry dates, and associated cases
Use dedicated views to review collaborators and collaborated cases, including status and agency details
Social Media Name Search
OWL now supports name‑based social media searches across multiple platforms (e.g., major social networks), using a consistent product pattern and payload handling alongside other intel sources.
OWLdocs – Databases by Datasource
Database workflows in OWLdocs have been aligned with other search flows:
Select one or more database records and attach them directly to a case or subject
Use checkboxes and “Attach to Case/Subject” actions with a case/subject picker
Inherit Keyword/Wildcard search behavior from Query Data, defaulting to the current datasource
Improvements
Notifications, Admin & System Behavior
Notification menu updated to a modern Material‑style menu
Admin reports now grouped by module for easier discovery
Admins can edit closed/disabled users to correct or re‑enable accounts
Audit Log type filters alphabetized for faster navigation
System email addresses standardized for commercial and GovCloud environments
Collaboration & Access Controls
External collaboration workflows have been hardened end‑to‑end:
Correct handling of expiry dates, statuses, and department information in requests
Consistent behavior for editing/deleting pending collaborators and collaborated cases
Role‑ and user‑level collaboration settings now correctly govern shared access and audit logging
Authentication, MFA & Notifications
First‑time login and forgot‑password flows now behave as intended for new users
MFA configuration respects organization/role/department defaults instead of always creating user‑level records
Critical authentication and login notifications send reliably, without spurious alerts from unrelated modules
OWLdocs & OWLvault
More reliable batch imports, status changes, folder/file listings, and mapping template saves
Correct separation and display of matched vs. unmatched OWLdocs/OWLvault records in search
Exported reports now render rich text correctly and align more closely with UI content
Search, Wildcard & Geospatial
Spyglass, rerun search, and criteria display issues resolved in search views
Wildcard and date/number range searches behave more consistently, including for older dates
Datasource selection, counts, pagination, and geospatial identity counts now align with actual results
Cases, Subjects, Forms, Tips & Dossiers
Attach/detach behavior for forms, tips, reports, and tasks now respects status and returns clear results
Dossier views show templates, compliance indicators, and “attached with” details more consistently
Case and subject dossier counts for related activity now align with underlying records
User Interface & General Stability
Numerous UI regressions addressed (pagination, icons, alignment, truncation, date pickers) across Intel views and admin screens
Record management filters and legal hold/retention fields behave more predictably
Overall, users should experience fewer visual glitches and more consistent interactions across modules
